Adopt a piece of green in your neighbourhood

Adopt a piece of nature in Lelystad and make your neighbourhood even cosier. Maintaining a flowerbed, tree field or other piece of adopted greenery is a fun way to make your neighbourhood more beautiful. Get to work together with your neighbours!

What is adoptive green

Adoption green space is public green space in your neighbourhood that you, as a resident, can manage temporarily. In Lelystad, you can adopt a piece of greenery through People Make the Neighbourhood. This means that you become responsible for the maintenance and design of, for example, a park, tree level or another piece of municipal greenery. The aim is to make the neighbourhood greener, more attractive and more biodiverse (suitable for more animals and plants). By adopting a piece of green, you make a difference in your own neighbourhood.

Cosy and green

There are several reasons to adopt a piece of nature in your neighbourhood. After all, you get a lot in return!

  • Adoption greenery makes for a cosier neighbourhood. Think cheerful plants in spring, or a food forest from which you reap the benefits yourself.
  • There is more connection. By maintaining a piece of nature together with your neighbours, you can just make new friends in the neighbourhood. The resident advisers of People Make the Neighbourhood like to think along with you. For example, to create a meeting place among the greenery.
  • Green is good for nature. Birds, bees, butterflies and other animals have more space in a green neighbourhood. Or hang bird houses, bat boxes and nesting boxes in which animals can nest. Nature in the neighbourhood can also be a very good 'highway' for animals to go from one natural area to another. We call these ecological connections. If everyone thinks along about a piece of nature in the neighbourhood, we can create a green ribbon through Lelystad!

Contribution for a Better Neighbourhood

Are you a tenant of Centrada? Then you can apply for the Better Neighbourhood Contribution. Centrada finds it important to improve contact between neighbours. That's why they contribute to good ideas for a nice and cosy neighbourhood. For example for flower boxes around the complex, a bench in the inner garden or a joint clean-up operation. You apply together with other residents from the street or neighbourhood. The more neighbours participate, the greater the chance of winning the Better Neighbourhood Contribution!
