In summer, does it sometimes feel like you could fry an egg on your doorstep? True! Tiles and bricks retain a lot of heat. But tiles have another disadvantage. Rainwater cannot drain properly. So replace your tiles with green plants! Fewer tiles ensure cooling and less water flooding. And a green garden is almost as little work as a garden with tiles. Last year, we collectively replaced more than 3,000 tiles with greenery in lelystad. And that is just the beginning! Want to do your bit too? Go tile shopping and sign up for the Tile Taxi.
Free and easily arranged with the Tile Taxi
If you remove the tiles from your garden, we will come and collect them for you with the Tegeltaxi. Of course, you can bring your own tiles to the waste disposal station all year round. The Tegeltaxi is especially handy for those who do not have their own transport. To use the Tile Taxi, the tiles in your garden need to be replaced by green plants. And you must register in advance via the registration form. So would you also like to get rid of your tiles for free? Tile out, plant in!

The Tile taxi will only collect tiles that have been registered via the registration form on gemeentelelystad.nl

2. Choose a date
You can sign up for the Tile Taxi during the period it runs. You can sign up no later than one week in advance.

3. Big bag
After registering, you will receive a big bag at home in which you have to put the tiles. A big bag is a large sturdy bag that can be picked up by the Tile Taxi. Only big bags issued by the municipality will be collected.

4. This can go in the bag
The Tile taxi is for tiles, clinkers or curb stones only. No sand, gravel, green waste, garden wood, decking or pebbles.

5. Drop by
Place the big bag on the pavement in front of the house, along the main road, away from trees, light poles, parked cars and corners. No later than 7.00 on the collection day itself.

6. Plant!
Removed tiles should be replaced by greenery. So: tile out, plant in! This can be checked.
Count your green profits!
Biggest profit? More green in the Netherlands. So far, almost 9 million tiles have been exchanged for plants. That means 160 football fields of planting. More nature is therefore desperately needed to make our country climate-proof. So feel free to empty your whole garden. Replacing part of it is also fine. Because, every tile counts.
