Give your street a green makeover? We are happy to make it happen. Every year, IVN, Landschapsbeheer Flevoland and Centrada, together with Lelystad municipality, green streets. That means: tiles out, plants in. From façade gardens (a small strip of plants against the house) to flower beds. During the Green Street Makeover, you get to work together!

You and your neighbours will then have a chance to win 1 of 4 green makeovers for the entire street. More greenery means less flooding during heavy rain. And more cooling in summer. Plus a nice home for animals and insects. Another nice bonus...Neighbourhood greenery brings conviviality, and play space for children.

Get involved

Register your street together with your neighbours during the registration period in spring. Click on the button to see if the registration is still dough. Is your street chosen? Then you will receive a plant pack worth 100 euros per participating household to make your street greener together with your neighbours.

Here's your chance:

- Your street now has mainly tiles and little greenery.

- Register with at least three neighbours.

- You help plant greenery yourself.

    Per participating household, you win 2m2of free plants. So the more neighbours, the more plants!

  • Disposal of tiles

    The tiles and stones are removed for free. No need to drag heavy tiles around.

    Your plants thrive in fertile soil. That is why you get free organic garden soil.

  • Tools on loan

    You can use our tools. Of course, we will also explain what tools you need.

  • 154 m2 of green space added

    Together we greened 154 m2 on 28 September and 26 October during the Green Street Makeover.

  • 8 makeovers

    A total of 8 streets were greened, with Kempenaar 9, Kempenaar 13 and Vaartweg winning this year.

  • 2 Green Neighbourhood Days

    In 2 streets, 2023 winners got to work maintaining their gardens, using our plant packages.

Adopt greenery in the neighbourhood

Not (yet) a winner of the Green Street Make-Over? Adopt a piece of public greenery in your neighbourhood! Together with the municipality and people from the neighbourhood, you will make this piece of greenery more beautiful and cosy.

Here's how it works:

  • Apply via mensenmakendebuurt.nl.
  • The municipality will check if this is possible (e.g. if there are no cables in the way).
  • You and your neighbours plant and maintain your mini-garden. Your own piece of adopted greenery.

A greener Lelystad is good for our health, the future and makes the neighbourhood a nicer place to live. That is a nice reward, so what are you waiting for?
