The Tegeltaxi is a service (free of charge for residents) provided by Lelystad City Council that allows residents to easily collect and dispose of their old tiles. This initiative supports the greening of gardens in Lelystad.
The aim of the Tile Taxi is to make it easier for residents to replace tiles with greenery, such as herb-rich grass, flowers or shrubs. This contributes to better rainwater drainage, less pressure on sewers and more biodiversity in the city.
You can register using the form on gemeentelelystad.nl. The deadline for registration is Sunday, one week before the collection date.
To register, we ask for some details:
- Your name
- Your address (also for delivery of the big bag)
- Email address
- Number of tiles to be collected (estimate)
- Before & after photo on request
After registering, you will receive a big bag to put the tiles in. This big bag will be delivered by someone from BOR (Beheer Openbare Ruimte). With the big bag, you will also receive information about greening your garden and nature in Lelystad. We will also check whether the rules/conditions have been met.
The Tegeltaxi only collects tiles, clinkers and curb stones. Other materials such as sand, gravel, green waste, garden wood, decking or pebbles will not be taken away.
You can offer a minimum of 1 m² (about 11 30 x 30 cm tiles) and a maximum of 1 big bag full of tiles at a time.
The tiles should be in the big bag on a paved surface, not in the grass. The location must be accessible for a squeeze truck and should not be near parked cars, lampposts, trees or waste containers. The big bag may be placed from Sunday afternoon prior to the collection time.
The Tile Taxi cannot operate in streets where works are taking place. Make sure the big bag is in a place accessible to the squeeze truck.
Yes, as part of the conditions you must send before and after photos of the area where tiles have been removed and replaced with greenery.
The service is free for Lelystad residents.
The big bag is delivered to your home, so you do not need a car for transport.
