Free trees for residents
Together with More Trees Now, we will hand out free saplings and shrubs on Saturday 31 January 2026. This will take place between 10.00 and 14.30 from our tree hotel at Schoepenweg 4 in Lelystad. These saplings come from places in the city where they cannot grow well. For example, because they are too close to a road or get too little light. By handing them out for free, We give these trees a second chance and make Lelystad greener. Residents, schools, farmers, local organisations and other greeners who want to collect a tree or shrub to replant must register in advance.
Collect a free tree or shrub from the tree hotel at Noordersluis
Lelystad residents must sign up in advance for a free tree or shrub via the More Trees Now website. We will hand out the little trees on Saturday 31 January 2025. The distribution day is between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the tree hotel at Schoepenweg 4 on Noordersluis in Lelystad. At the tree hotel are trees and plants that need a temporary place. Like these young trees and shrubs, or older trees that have been temporarily transplanted for works.

Second chance for trees
A tree makes hundreds of seedlings every year. These are small trees about 50 to 150 centimetres tall. These seedlings can grow anywhere. Along the road, in the woods or in the greenery around the corner. The trees often do not survive there because they are in the wrong place. That is why Lelystad municipality works together with Meer Bomen Nu. Together with volunteers, we dig out the seedlings. The selection consists of typical Flevoland species, such as willow, poplar and dogwood. By handing out the trees and shrubs free of charge, they get a second chance in Lelystad.
Together 1 for nature
If everyone saves 1 tree, together we will make a big difference. Lelystad municipality considers a green, healthy city important. Therefore, the municipality actively participates in saving saplings through More Trees Now. The action is part of the Nature Agenda. A greener and nature-rich Lelystad is good for our health and future, and also nicer to live in for people and animals. Together with the city, we are working on Lelystad where nature has a place in our daily lives.
