A plan for the parks
A game of football, a walk with the sound of birds, or just walking the dog. We all enjoy parks in Lelystad, don't we? Green parks bring people and animals together. To keep it that way, we are working on a Parks Plan. For now and later.
Why a Parks Plan?
Nature takes care of itself, but with a good plan, we can better prepare parks for a changing climate. That way, parks remain a home for different types of plants and animals.
What's in the Parks Plan?
District parks, neighbourhood parks and city parks. You probably don't realise it, but there are different kinds of parks. Each type has its own function and purpose. Not every piece of green space is a park. The Parks Plan describes what a park is and what types there are. We also look at how to prepare parks for climate change. Heavy rain, drought or heat? With a mix of trees, shrubs and plants, parks can cope better with extreme weather.
When improving the parks, the municipality looks at biodiversity (plant species and animals), park experience, health, sports and games. Safety and road safety also play a role. In this way, parks become places that everyone can enjoy.

Think with us
Residents can think and act too. In parks such as the Bultpark and Stadspark, residents are already working on garden chores such as pruning, sawing and planting. Would you like to participate too? Get in touch at gemeente@lelystad.nl or call 14 0320.
